Jesus and Jehovah's Witnesses

A friend recently directed me to a cartoon that turned out to be the best three minutes of my week. (Maybe not, but close.) It is a piece of propoganda which appears to be produced by the Jehovah's Witnesses a long time ago. It depicts Jesus as a cross between Superman and He-man. Among other things, it shows Jesus killing a child in church as part of His judgment and accomplishing his ultimate goal of saving a bunch of old, white people. I give this cartoon two thumbs up for being ridiculous. I laughed. I cried.

Check it out and post your reaction.

Was this produced by JWs or by anti Jehovah's Witness folks? It reminds me of similar cartoons I've seen about the LDS religion. The beginning of this video in particular strikes me not as an official JW film but as someone looking to discredit.

Ok... Is it just me, or does Jesus bear a shocking resemblance to Charles Bronson, during the "Death Wish" days?

Oh man, he does look like Charles Bronson in this clip!

Wow. That was fun.

Interesting that they do get the cross thing kind of right.

The word translated cross in the New Testament is the Greek word stauros, which suggests an upright pale or stake.

The Bible contains no specific description of the stauros on which Jesus died.

If it were important that we know its exact shape, the Gospel writers could have easily provided that information—yet none of them do. What is important for us to know is
the willing sacrifice Jesus made of His own life for our sakes.

This video was definately NOT produced by Jehovah's Witnesses. It is a lame attempt to discredit them, "propaganda" as you call it. Real on-line videos produced by them can be found at http://www.jw-media.org/frames/vnr.htm. Others are also available on a variety of topics. For cartoons, try Disney. You will find that they are also better quality and the music is more upbeat than yours too.

Shawn-

Your link doesn't prove that the JW's didn't produce this video. It only show their current media. This cartoon appears to be made in the 60s or 70s and is pretty consistent with JW theology during that period. It doesn't appear to be satirical either.

Gotta give me something better than that.

Shawn-

I went ahead and added emphasis to the "appears to be produced by" part of this post. Let me know if you find something snopes-esque on this.

I don't know what to say after watching that except...wow, that was different!

It's pretty funny...but it's definitely not by them. Notice in the beginning it disapproves of the JWs, saying that they were wrong about the end of the world and they re-arrange doctrine when it suits them (the part where it shuffles the nuts...definitely propaganda.

Not to say that JWs don't have their wackiness...
